I mentioned that the wife and I may be getting our first classic...we did it!
Drive home was fantastic, shit eating grin the whole way.
One funky thing it has is an aftermarket mpg gauge that I think is period. The previous owners say it didnt work very well anyway and it makes a bit of a racket, like a speedo cable going out. Should I remove it?
Also, technical question, how does one rotate photos in Kinja?

I can’t answer any car questions, but I can for tech.
You can’t rotate images in Kinja. If you’re on Windows you can right click and rotate the file in Windows/File Explorer. If on Android you should be able to rotate it in Gallery. I don’t know about iOS. But if you do any of these you’ll have to delete the image in the post and reupload it.

Old econ gauges like that tend to be simple vacuum gauges. You can use it as one if you want.

One cannot simply rotate photos in Kinja. One must rotate Kinja.

Looking forward to more pics.
If that gage is mechanical it may be factory or dealer installed. Usually it’s just a fancy vacuum gage. Only the Germans would come up with a mechanical unit.

It’s probably just a vacuum gauge. The numbers have no relationship with mileage reality, but it can be useful for other things.

So can I just detach it?

Don’t leave any vacuum lines unplugged. Ever.
